Job description

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will be responsible to provide strategic program and policy expertise for programs relating to community-based services, disabilities and long-term care infrastructure projects. They will promote open and ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders to identify the effectiveness of programs and anticipate future problems and challenges. They will provide interpretation of relevant legislation to internal and external sources and lead processes to make changes to legislation, as required. They will lead and represent the Ministry of Health at stakeholder, inter-ministerial committees/meetings, federal-provincial and territorial meetings and establish, facilitate and foster positive working relationships. They will also provide support in the development of priority infrastructure projects.

  • anticipate, identify and develop strategic direction for community-based programs and services in SK;
  • lead and manage projects with multiple tasks, changing deadlines and complexities;
  • form and lead teams of diverse individuals internal and external to government;
  • applies expertise in legislative, regulatory, and policy development processes;
  • communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and work collaboratively with the public, staff in government, federal-provincial-territorial representatives, and other stakeholders;
  • understand complex policy-related issues and use sound judgement and discretion in the handling of sensitive issues;
  • apply basic research methods, statistical analysis and techniques in assessment, monitoring and evaluation;
  • establish and maintain a network of diverse contacts to obtain and exchange information and resources;
  • develop, negotiate, implement and evaluate projects and programs, taking into consideration changing priorities and resources to achieve project programs and goals;
  • oversees multiple projects to ensure high-quality outcomes within deadlines.
