About the Opportunity
ACT Energy Technologies is seeking a Systems Administrator who will install, support, maintain, and improve ACT’s server and network environment. This role helps ensure reliable, secure, and available technology services, responds to service outages and complex technical issues, and provides second- and third-tier support beyond the scope of desktop support. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with sound judgment, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Manage ACT’s file, Exchange, domain controller, and Citrix servers.
Share responsibility for administering VMware vCenter with other administrators.
Manage the Citrix XenApp farm and published applications.
Plan and complete system updates, maintenance, and systems-related projects.
Administer user accounts and access to network resources.
Monitor and maintain system reliability and availability to support business operations.
Research and recommend technologies that improve remote computing capabilities.
Administer email and Exchange server environments.
Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery systems.
Provide second- and third-tier technical support and assist the service desk with daily support needs.
Provide after-hours on-call support on a scheduled rotation.
Support or train junior technical personnel and contribute scripting or light programming where required.
Comply with company policies and legal requirements applicable to a publicly traded company.
Promote and apply the established Quality Management System within the scope of the role.
Promote environmental awareness and conservation of natural resources, including proper classification and disposal of solid and hazardous waste.
Education and Experience
Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, or a related field.
Three or more years of network administration experience.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting server software and hardware issues.
Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2016 Standard and Enterprise.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network routing, and related internet networking protocols.
Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
Skills and Qualifications
Microsoft certification.
Knowledge of enterprise server platforms, including HP and Nutanix.
Knowledge of Veeam backup software.
Knowledge of Arista, HP, and Cisco switches.
Ability to support a corporate network environment of approximately 500 users.
Current knowledge of modern infrastructure and enterprise technologies.
Professional, courteous, and service-oriented approach.
Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to a collaborative environment.
Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and periods of high demand.
Strong interest in learning and applying new technologies.
Preferred Assets
Oil and gas industry exposure.
Knowledge of Citrix server farms.
Knowledge of Exchange servers and Microsoft 365.
Knowledge of Microsoft hybrid environments.
Knowledge of VLANs and exposure to WAN technologies.
