Platform Engineer - Software Consultant
Job description
Flowbird - Ashford, Kent (office-based (not hybrid or Work from Home) Flowbird is a CRM and customer data centre of excellence, based in Ashford. Alongside client work, we've built our own platform, FlowForce, and we're currently rebuilding how we deliver software entirely around AI agents. We're not using AI to write code a bit faster. We're rethinking the whole development process around it: How you specify work so an agent can do it
How you verify what comes back
How you manage several agent sessions running at once without it turning into chaos
How you build repeatable commands and skills Most of this doesn't have settled answers yet. We are continuously iterating. We care much more about how you think than what you've done. The honest description of this work is that you often won't know how to do the thing in front of you. Nobody will have documentation. There may not be an established answer. What matters is whether you can sit with that, start narrowing it down, and come back with a proposal - rather than waiting to be told. Since we are a small team, you'll be in the conversation about what's worth building next. We'd expect you to disagree and challenge us. What you'd work on FlowForce, our internal platform - JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Supabase, GitHub
Client platforms - Similar stack to our internal platform
Working out how to better embed AI agents into our process.
Some client integration work - knowing an IPAAS tool is a bonus
Deciding with us what we build next What we're looking for You have a STEM degree - preferably a 2:1 with a BSc in Computer Science
You have experience with software engineering principles
You're comfortable not knowing, and you start anyway
You form a view, and you'll argue for it
You stay curious; when something doesn't look right, you will trace it back to the original source
You can explain a technical decision in writing, clearly Why this job rather than a bigger company You will get to be a part of a new stage of building software at Flowbird. Exposure to the entire SDLC, as well as areas of the business you would normally be siloed away from. You may end up collaborating with sales, be involved with GTM strategies and become unexpectedly knowledgeable on client domains. The trade-off is that we're small, so there's nobody to hide behind and no one at your level to learn alongside. That suits some people and not others. How to apply Send a CV and answers to the questions below. The answers matter more than the CV. Tell us about something you worked out how to build or fix with no instructions and nobody to ask. What did you do when you got stuck? Tell us about a time you built something cool with AI. Explain why you built it, and a few of the decisions you had to make. Send an email to: [email protected] You'll need the right to work in the UK. Flowbird isn't able to sponsor visas.
