Overview

The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of fund administration and financial reporting services for private equity and other private market clients. The role provides leadership across fund accounting, NAV production, investor reporting, and operational activities, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of client deliverables.

Acting as a key point of contact for clients, auditors, and internal stakeholders, the Team Leader drives service excellence, ensures compliance with fund governing documents and accounting standards, and oversees the review and development of team members. The role is also accountable for supporting operational efficiency, managing day-to-day client requirements, and delivering high-quality accounting and operational services through the Investran platform.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities

Strategic Focus

  • Own the delivery of accurate and timely NAVs, ensuring the quality and integrity of fund accounting and financial reporting deliverables across assigned client portfolios.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in private equity fund accounting, ensuring the consistent application of accounting principles, fund structures, and industry best practices.
  • Lead investor servicing activities and client relationship management, acting as a trusted point of contact and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for complex fund structures, consolidations, and investment transactions, ensuring compliance with governing agreements and applicable accounting standards.
  • Direct the review and validation of management fee calculations, carried interest allocations, and distribution waterfall models to ensure accuracy and compliance with fund documentation.
  • Drive process efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Champion risk management and operational controls by promoting a strong control environment and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster collaboration across client service, operations, technology, and other stakeholder groups to support effective service delivery and achievement of business objectives.

Operational Management

  • Drive operational excellence by overseeing the timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of fund accounting, financial reporting, and client service activities.
  • Oversee risk and control activities, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Ensure high-quality client service delivery by managing priorities, monitoring deliverables, and addressing client requirements effectively.
  • Promote a strong quality assurance framework through effective review processes, controls, and continuous monitoring of deliverables.
  • Oversee the review of cash reconciliations and related control processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of exceptions.
  • Champion process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and service quality.
  • Drive operational excellence across deliverables, ensuring service standards and business objectives are achieved.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with global client service teams in accordance with established procedures to ensure consistency and effectiveness in service delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and supporting successful business outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary operational lead for stakeholder engagement and service delivery across assigned client portfolios.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery across assigned teams and client relationships, ensuring performance, quality, and accountability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to support performance, capability building, and succession planning.
  • Manage team capacity and resource allocation to support business priorities, service levels, and operational objectives.

People Leadership

  • Serve as an escalation point for team members, facilitating the resolution of complex operational, technical, and client-related matters.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture focused on service excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, technical guidance, and support across fund accounting, financial reporting, and fund administration activities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of fund accounting professionals to drive high performance, capability development, and continuous growth.
  • Oversee and review team deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with established procedures, controls, and service standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish development objectives, and provide regular feedback to support individual and team success.
  • Manage team capacity, workload allocation, and priorities to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of client commitments.
  • Support talent acquisition activities, including the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance team effectiveness, improve processes, and strengthen employee engagement.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.

Governance & Risk

  • Proactively identify, assess, manage, and mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks to support effective business outcomes.
  • Oversee the escalation, investigation, and resolution of control deficiencies, exceptions, and risk events in a timely and effective manner.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, compliance, and risk awareness across the team through effective leadership and governance practices.
  • Maintain a robust control environment through effective oversight of fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational processes.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audit activities, ensuring the timely resolution and remediation of audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with fund governing documents, regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies across all assigned client engagements.
  • Drive the continuous enhancement of processes, controls, and governance frameworks to strengthen operational effectiveness and risk management.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance outcomes across client portfolios.
  • Provide leadership and oversight on governance, risk, and control matters while supporting a strong risk culture across the team.

Experience & Personal Attributes

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in fund administration, fund accounting, private equity, or alternative investments.
  • Strong understanding of private equity fund structures, capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and NAV production.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing management fee, carried interest, and other fund-related calculations.
  • Proven experience with investment accounting, reconciliations, consolidations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience interpreting fund governing documents, partnership agreements, and offering memorandums.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with fund accounting platforms such as Geneva, Investran, or Yardi is preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) completed or in progress preferred.
  • Strong experience managing relationships with clients, auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders.
