The Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all database systems are maintained, monitored and backed up in accordance with Information Technology best practices. This role maintains the operation of these systems in a 24x7 work environment. The Database Administrator acts as a point of contact for the services, equipment, and software changes and/or installations under their assigned area of responsibility. The Database Administrator evaluates, documents, monitors, configures, and tunes existing database systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides first level troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Maintains database for optimum performance and operation.
  • Ensures the successful backup of database and related log files.
  • Periodically validates restoration capabilities of backed up database systems.
  • Assists in the selection of new database systems including design/redesign/creation/integration.
  • Monitors database systems for errors, locks, blocks, performance, etc.
  • Documents daily database performance statistics for future analysis.
  • Documents current database environment architecture.
  • Ensures that database related activities are performed in accordance with San Manuel Tribal Internal Controls Standards.
  • May access and handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Participates in on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of day-to day database technical support experience required.
  • Working knowledge of network hardware and software is required.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise SAN storage is required.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment is essential.
  • Must be self- motivated and know when to seek guidance.
  • Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks is critical.
  • Must possess excellent communication and documentation skills.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
