Testing will cover computer software knowledge relevant to the position.

Responsible for creating an outstanding experience at every interaction for both external and internal customers (students, faculty, administrators, and staff) seeking answers. Armed with strong knowledge of the college - policies, procedures, and systems - and a passion for customer satisfaction, the student services technician provides answers to customers calling in or arriving on campus with questions about any aspect of the college in a friendly and professional manner.

Will work non-traditional hours to include nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to work at various campuses depending on student services traffic.

Typical Duties
  • Answer and respond to a high-volume of inbound calls emails and in-person inquiries with the highest degree of politeness and professionalism at all times.
  • Provide telephone-based end-user tier-1 information technology support and training for college wide operations by serving as a central point of contact for college users with software, hardware, networking, and telecommunications questions and problems, and acting as an advocate for customers in obtaining and utilizing services.
  • Provide telephone-based tier-2 support to customers calling about general information, financial aid, registration, class scheduling, advising, and miscellaneous student information. Convey correct information using databases provided.
  • Prepare a variety of technical documents, which involves: collecting and verifying information; assembling, compiling and printing reports; proofreading and distributing reports.
  • Process and maintain accurate and detailed records and documents; prepare student records and associated correspondence; data entry, document imaging, and retrieve information from databases and verify the completeness and accuracy of the information submitted.
  • Build rapport with customers via in-person contact, phone and web.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document call and visits in customer profiles. Maintain all logs and reporting documentation as required.
  • Look for trends in calls, customer visits and notifies supervisor of abnormalities in patterns. Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Work with the testing coordinator, when necessary, in arranging and supervising a variety of assessments and test batteries on the campus assigned.
  • Perform follow-up procedures in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Make outgoing calls to existing and prospective students based on college goals.
  • May provide mentoring to new employees.
  • Maintain department quality and productivity standards.
  • Adhere to college, federal and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations.
  • Stay current with policy and procedure related to the college environment.
  • Handle highly sensitive information and confidential records and materials in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.

    Associate's Degree and 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
