Job Overview:
Third Party International (TPI) is seeking a highly skilled Consultant specializing in aircraft wheel bolt design to support client projects in the aerospace sector. This role involves providing technical expertise in the design, analysis, and validation of aircraft wheel bolts and associated fastening systems, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and performance requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in aerospace fastener design, structural analysis, and material selection and will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for safety, performance, and manufacturability.
Candidates without fastener design experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or advise on the design and development of aircraft wheel bolts and related fastener components, from concept through validation.
- Perform and review structural and fatigue analysis, including stress calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Select appropriate materials and coatings, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards (FAA, EASA, or equivalent).
- Support qualification and certification testing, including documentation and analysis.
- Collaborate with client engineering teams to improve bolt performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on manufacturing processes, tolerances, and quality requirements for critical fasteners.
- Contribute technical expertise to failure investigations and redesign efforts, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in aerospace fastener or structural component design, with direct involvement in wheel bolt or critical fastening system projects.
- Proficiency in FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent) and CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, fatigue life prediction, and relevant industry standards (NAS, MS, or MIL specifications).
- Experience with certification processes and qualification testing for flight hardware.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
This is a contract consulting opportunity with compensation based on experience and expertise. The role offers flexibility to work remotely, with occasional travel to client sites as needed.
