Job Summary
The Air Freight Supervisor overviews end-to-end Export air cargo operations, ensuring compliance with IATA, TSA, CBP, and client SLAs. This role leverages Magaya’s logistics platform to automate workflows, track shipments, and maintain audit-ready records while leading a team of coordinators and agents (as the business expands).
The Air Freight Supervisor should have experience in Airline Tariffs, Cargo types, Pricing & Quoting of Air Freight Exports as well as Air Freight Exports Operations experience (issuing of Airwaybills, documentations, dealing with shippers, Carriers, Freight Partners and Ground Handling at airports). He would also need to be familiar with TH Charges at Airports.
The Air Freight Supervisor will also serve as the Dedicated Security focal point for TSA ref the IAC license of the company.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
1. Operational Execution with Magaya
- Booking & Documentation:
- Create and manage airway bills (AWBs), commercial invoices, and customs forms (e.g., AES filings) in Magaya Supply Chain, ensuring seamless data flow from quotes to invoices .
- Automate tracking/tracing using Magaya’s real-time visibility tools to monitor shipments from origin to delivery .
- Cargo Compliance:
- Validate weight/dimensions and screen for hazardous materials (DG) per IATA regulations using Magaya’s ACE-certified Customs Compliance module for automated checks .
2. Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Internal Collaboration:
- Train staff on Magaya platform for Air Freight
- Generate P/L reports in Magaya for monthly performance reviews with management .
- External Liaison:
- Negotiate rates with airlines using Magaya Rate Management (at an advanced stage after the company obtains its IATA CNS Endorsed Cargo Agent Status) to compare contract/spot rates.
- Coordinate with customs brokers via Magaya’s Digital Freight Portal for client-facing updates and document sharing .
- Disruption Management:
- Address flight delays or routing issues using Magaya’s predictive analytics to reroute cargo and update clients .
Systems & Technical Requirements
- Magaya Platform Proficiency:
- Supply Chain Module: Booking creation, invoice generation, CRM updates .
- Rate Management: Margin tracking, tariff filings, RFQ responses .
- Other Tools:
- CargoWise/SAP integration experience
- MS Office/Teams for internal reporting and stakeholder communication .
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in Export air freight operations, including 1+ year with Magaya or similar logistics software .
- Soft Skills: attention to detail, crisis management, and cross-functional collaboration .
- IATA DGR Certified (Cat6) – 7.3 (this is a plus)
- MS Office – Excel and Word experience
