POSITION: Assistant Wastewater Superintendent
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
SUMMARY:
Trumbull County, Ohio is a combination of both urban and rural communities situated in the northeast corner of Ohio. It is located between the Youngstown, Cleveland, and Akron corridors. The County’s population is approximately 200,000. Trumbull County consists of five cities, six villages, and twenty-four townships.
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Wastewater Superintendent, you will be responsible for assisting with all wastewater related operations. Handling customer complaints and problem solving through the application of fundamental engineering principles. Studies existing methods and develops new and improved operating procedures for wastewater treatment and collection. Supervision of Package Plant and Sewer Maintenance personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Analyzes efficiencies of Package Plant and Sewer Collection System operations.
· Conducts studies and investigations related to wastewater treatment and collection.
· Recommends equipment purchases to the Wastewater Superintendent, policy
changes, staffing needs and new programs.
· Prepares statistical analysis and engineering studies as needed.
· Attends meetings and represents the department as needed.
· Chair the monthly Safety Committee meeting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under Wastewater Superintendent direction, is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of Package Plant and Collection units. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited 4-year College of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Any experience level in the Sanitary Engineering field is preferred. Have knowledge of maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment and collection systems. Must have, or be able to earn State of Ohio Wastewater Treatment certifications. Must take the Class I examination as soon as experience qualifications are met.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering. Have skill in reviewing and revising engineering plans and specifications. Formulating and applying solutions to customer complaints and problems. Exercise independent judgment and initiative. Have the ability to make moderately complex engineering computations. Work with computers and software appropriate for the industry. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and contractors within the scope of the position. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
