ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Job Description:
Our firm is a growing one that is looking for a motivated and skilled attorney to grow with us. We are seeking an experienced litigation associate with a minimum of two (2) years of Texas civil litigation experience. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials as well as strong organizational, analytical, writing and verbal skills. Our civil litigation firm needs an Associate to manage part of our large and active case load.
Job Responsibilities:
Attend meetings, mediations, hearings, pre-trial and trials. Take and defend depositions of witnesses, including corporate representatives and expert witnesses. Research caselaw and statutory authorities. Draft motions, discovery requests and responses, scheduling orders, briefs, and prepare cases for jury trials. Analyze case and provide legal guidance and support to the clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Admittance to the State Bar of Texas
- Minimum two (2) years civil litigation experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Civil jury trial and bench trial experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years civil litigation experience
- Deposition experience
- Property tax litigation experience
Job Duties:
- Ability to handle a large case load and run his or her own litigation matters with minimal supervision
- Willingness to appear in court and argue before a judge or a jury
- Experience with Travis County District Clerk’s Office, a plus
- Extensive experience in legal research, discovery, mediation, client/witness interviews, and trial preparation
- Strong organizational, reasoning and research skills
- Outstanding legal writing, and advocacy skills
- Attention to detail – detail oriented
- Extensive courtroom experience (both motion practice and trial)
- Ability to prioritize and handle urgent tasks when assigned or needed
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism while dealing with complex, high value matters
- Commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality
- Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a litigation team
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle matter from filing to trial
- Review and evaluate cases
- Work with client and Managing Attorney to establish litigation plan.
- Prepare for and handle trials
- Recognize, participate and promote settlement opportunities.
- Draft/respond to discovery, take depositions and participate in motions practice
- Train or mentor junior lawyers or paralegals
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary:
- $80,000 - $100,000
- Competitive compensation dependent on candidate’s experience and background
Hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hrs. per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Hours may change/vary depending on business need.
