Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Security Aquatic Safety is to assist the Manager – Security Aquatic Safety in the management of aquatic safety for all The Venetian Resort pool decks. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure and enforces safety practices of Team Members and Guests on all pool decks, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and safety procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure Lifeguards adhere to established work methods, techniques, schedules, and comply with applicable laws and regulations, Company and department policies, procedures, standards and specifications. Reviews needs with appropriate management staff and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Monitor individual performance of direct reports and conducts performance appraisals to enhance skill sets.
  • Manage the hiring, training, and evaluation of Team Members to meet departmental standards and goals.
  • Maintain high quality Guest service standards.
  • Ensure that Team Members’ certifications are current and meet Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) requirements.
  • Ensure that the cleanliness of the pool decks is always maintained.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
    • 21 years of age.
    • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board registration, Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, valid Nevada Driver’s License, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or StarGuard Elite) and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
    • 5 years of experience in Aquatics within a resort hotel or similar environment.
    • Lifeguard Certification from American Red Cross or StarGuard Elite to include CPR / Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid or Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aid
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor or StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Instructor
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certification or equivalent
    • Ability to obtain the following certifications, within six (6) months of hire: StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification, StarGuard Elite Instructor Certification Level 2 (must obtain instructor Level 1 prior to Level 2), and StarGuard Elite Supervisor Training
    • Familiarity with SNHD regulations and protocols.
    • Cleaning and handling of cleaning chemicals.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
    • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to:
  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
