Summary: Grosse Ile Township Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Athletic Director to lead and oversee the district's high school athletic programs. The Athletic Director will be responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive, and successful environment for student-athletes, fostering athletic excellence, and promoting sportsmanship. The position involves managing athletic staff, overseeing program budgets, coordinating events, and ensuring compliance with district, state, and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Administration, or a related field required (Master’s preferred)
Experience:Minimum of three years of teaching or coaching experience, with at least two years in athletic administration or a related leadership role.

- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of MHSAA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee athletic programs that promote student-athlete growth, teamwork, and academic success.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and equity within all athletic programs.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate coaches and other athletic staff.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for coaching staff.
- Ensure compliance with MHSAA rules, state regulations, and district policies.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
- Oversee risk management, including the safety of facilities, equipment, and transportation.
- Develop and manage the athletic department’s budget in collaboration with district leadership.
- Oversee the allocation of resources, including uniforms, equipment, and facilities.
- Serve as the district's liaison with parents, community members, and booster clubs to enhance support for athletic programs.
- Promote student-athlete achievements through effective communication and media engagement.
- Investigates reported violations of the Athletic Code of Conduct, gathers relevant information, and ensures a thorough review process; provides a recommendation to the administration and works collaboratively to determine and implement appropriate next steps.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise athletic events, tournaments, and practices.
- Coordinate transportation, officials, and security for athletic events.
- Manage the scheduling and usage of athletic facilities, ensuring equitable access for internal school groups and external organizations.
- Monitor facility maintenance and ensure all spaces are well-maintained and in top condition - collaborate with district personnel to address any issues.
- Monitor academic eligibility of student-athletes and collaborate with staff to support their academic performance.
- Coordinate the development and successful implementation of a high school Hall of Fame, honoring outstanding achievements and fostering school pride.
