Bridge Advocate (PRN/On-Call)

Responsibilities Include:

Providing direct advocacy services in a healthcare setting to survivors of domestic violence identified in a healthcare setting including clear and accurate completion of documentation as needed. Advocates must be able to respond to the Bridge Dispatcher within 10 minutes of a call and arrive at the referring KCMO or KCKS partnering hospital within 45 minutes of the initial call.

Qualifications:

• Must be reliable and dependable
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including written communication.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Support is available 100% of the time PRN advocate is on-call
• Advocacy knowledge of domestic violence is preferred, however training will be provided
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence preferred
• Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation
• Due to specific hospital requirements, the candidate must be able to provide proof of immunizations or be able to obtain a blood test to verify immunization. An annual flu shot is required and the initial Covid vaccination is required (yearly COVID vaccines/boosters are not required)

** In addition to the one weekly shift and the rotating on-call weekend (every 5th weekend), some holiday shifts are required.

Compensation:

Each scheduled shift pays $6.67/hour for being on-call. Once activated to respond in-person to the hospital, the additional pay is $18 per hour with a guaranteed two-hour minimum pay. RBC-observed holiday pay rate is time and a half for activated calls. Compensation for all RBC-provided training is $18/hour.
