Other Conditions:
Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, hours not to exceed 40 hours per week. 89 day appointment. All positions require successful completion of a background check.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Makai Campus Coordinator, the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex Manager will manage the day to day operations and maintenance program for the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. Also, will manage in the coordination and management of the Ching Complex.
  • Oversee the event management and facilities operations of the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex are in the best interest of the University of Hawai‘i, State of Hawai‘i, staff, tenants, patrons, employees, and student-athletes.
  • Supervise and manage all aspects of the day to day operations of the Ching Complex.
  • Oversees the daily maintenance, cleaning, up keep and disposal of trash of the Ching Complex, including the locker rooms, bathrooms, offices, landscaping, courts, and surrounding areas.
  • Performs weekly maintenance of court surface by tilling, blowing, sweeping, etc.
  • Coordinate games management for all UH Beach Volleyball contests that occur on campus and at Queen?s Beach.
  • Assistant in coordinating games management for all football and other activities that occur at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and revise written policies, procedures, and safety rules for Ching Complex staff and all users of the Ching Complex to include the areas of, technical requirements, emergencies, crowd control, and tenant & patron conduct for all events at the Ching Complex.
  • Recommend fee schedule for facility usage to include out-of pocket expenses and facility rental fees for outside users.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, schedule, train, coordinate, and evaluate all personnel assigned to the operation of the Ching Complex including student-assistant and game and event management personnel. Responsible for timesheet submission and records of all employees at the Ching Complex.
  • Ensure events are properly staffed and managed in the best interest of the University of Hawai‘i, State of Hawai‘i, staff, tenants, patrons, employees, and student-athletes.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all staff, faculty, and students.
  • Coordinates and oversees non University related functions at Ching Complex.
  • Ensures venue is safe and that all safety policies and procedures are followed, in place, and functional prior to each event.
  • Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.
  • Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawai‘i policies.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the Athletics Department.
  • Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletics Association and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students or others, have occurred or will occur.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or University
  • One (1) year experience with athletic facilities/games management
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays as required.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Or equivalent combination of education/and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
