Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage their lived experience to foster hope, resilience, and recovery in others. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will work collaboratively with clients to help them navigate their recovery journey, utilizing your skills in addiction counseling, motivational interviewing, and crisis management.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and recovery.
- Facilitate group sessions that focus on skill-building and peer support.
- Assist clients in setting personal goals and developing actionable plans to achieve them.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage client engagement and self-efficacy.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Conduct crisis intervention as necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Mentor clients through challenges related to addiction, behavioral health, and mental health issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress within established systems.
Experience
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required (At least 2 Years Experience)
- Efficient in completing detailed notes weekly
- Strong computer skills
- Experience in addiction counseling or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Familiarity with crisis management techniques and behavioral health systems is essential.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in social work or related fields is a plus.
- Reliable transportation and reliable computer.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
