Job Title: School Director
Location: Academic Playzone – Richmond, TX
Schedule: Full‑Time
Position Overview
Academic Playzone is seeking a dedicated, organized, and experienced School Director to oversee all aspects of our preschool program. As the School Director, you will be responsible for ensuring daily operations run smoothly, maintaining compliance with Texas Child Care Licensing standards, supporting staff, and fostering a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children (infants through age 4).
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership of all classrooms and administrative functions.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate teaching teams; conduct performance reviews.
- Recruit, hire, train, and onboard new staff members; ensure all employees complete required background checks and training.
- Develop and maintain staffing schedules to meet child‑to‑teacher ratio requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure full compliance with Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) Minimum Standards and Child Care Licensing regulations.
- Maintain accurate records (attendance, incident reports, enrollment paperwork, staff files).
- Coordinate periodic inspections and licensing visits; address any deficiencies promptly.
- Implement ongoing health, safety, and sanitation protocols (diapering, toileting, hand‑washing, etc.).
- Curriculum & Program Development
- Oversee curriculum implementation for infants through 4‑year‑olds, ensuring age‑appropriate, developmentally enriching activities.
- Plan and coordinate daily schedules, enrichment programs, and special events (craft days, cultural celebrations, etc.).
- Monitor classroom quality through regular observations and feedback; support teaching staff in lesson planning and classroom management.
- Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians—handle inquiries, schedule tours, and address concerns or complaints professionally.
- Organize parent‑teacher conferences and family events (e.g., holiday celebrations, back‑to‑school nights).
- Maintain regular communication via email updates, newsletters, and bulletin‑board announcements.
- Financial & Operational Oversight
- Assist with budgeting, tuition collection procedures, and expense tracking.
- Oversee purchasing of supplies, equipment, and classroom materials.
- Manage building maintenance, vendor relationships, and safety audits.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience:
- At least 3–5 years of experience in early childhood education, with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., Assistant Director, Lead Teacher).
- Proven track record of managing staff, maintaining licensing compliance, and ensuring high‑quality care.
- Certifications & Skills:
- Minimum Standards Administrator Certificate or willingness to obtain (Texas HHSC).
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Strong knowledge of Texas CCR regulations and best practices in child development.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain a calm, solution‑oriented mindset under pressure.
- Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).

Pay: $42,586.00 - $46,556.00 per year
