Job Summary
Monterey Church Virginia (MCVA) is a small, non-denominational church located in Warrenton, VA. We are a Bible-teaching, spirit-filled community of Believers. We believe the primary ministry of the Church is the ministry of God’s Word (the Bible), which is synonymous to the ministry and work of the Holy Spirit. “Truth,” “Love,” and “Power” sum up the pure approach God has given us for ministry: ministering the truth of God’s word, with love (and humility), through the power of the Holy Spirit.
MCVA is the premier local church that exists under the covering of The Monterey Church, International (TMCI). TMCI exists for the purpose of providing ‘unity, power and protection’ for its affiliation/network of like-minded churches who are knit together and work together under the common covering of the Bible, our Beliefs, Mission, Vision, Purpose and Structure.
MCVA recognizes there are individuals who are called to plant churches domestically and internationally. If you believe God has placed such a calling on your life, we would like to provide you with an opportunity to grow and gain mentorship in this paid position, then be supported as you launch a new church with our support and leadership.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Church Planting Intern will be provided an opportunity to learn and support the various aspects of running a church (including ministry, administration and operations), while gaining wisdom and insight from the Senior Pastor and establishing a development plan for launching a new church plant. His responsibilities will include a variety of functions.
Leadership/Pastoral Opportunities
· Assist in various roles during Sunday worship services (including teaching, worship, serve teams, AV and more)
· Teach and preach, delivering relevant, Biblical messages periodically (approximately six weekends annually)
· Encourage members and attenders to be fully engaged in the church's mission
· Is a fully engaged member and leader in all church environments
Administrative
· Learn and assist in all aspects of church administration and day-to-day operations
· Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor and perform related duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Planning and Preparation
· Attend, with your spouse, a church-planting assessment
· Attend, with your spouse, a church-planting bootcamp
· Work with elders and staff to develop every relevant ministry, gift, talent and skill
· Work with the Senior Pastor, who has planted two churches, on your strategic plan to launch a new Monterey Church in the community to which God calls you
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience and Abilities
· Graduation or upcoming graduation from an accredited college or Seminary, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or the equivalent
· A postgraduate (master’s or doctoral) degree preferred
· Qualified or moving towards qualification for ordination
· Ability to teach/preach
· Ability to work and lead effectively within a cross-functional team
· Ability to prioritize responsibilities
· Ability to maintain a flexible schedule as needed
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Foundational Requirements
· Demonstrates Christ-like character and the fruit of the spirit in all interactions with congregants, volunteers and staff
· Experience in a start-up or demonstration of an entrepreneurial spirit
· Heart to disciple and care for people
· Ability to exercise Biblical wisdom, sound judgment, and spiritual discernment regarding matters of significance within the church
· Self-motivated and able to take initiative in identifying and addressing ministry needs
· If this candidate is married, it is imperative that his wife be in agreement with MCVA’s beliefs and supportive of his calling
