Job Summary
The Classroom Facilitator provides coaching and support to educational staff in their assigned centers within ACE’s Early Learning Program. This individual will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs in accordance with program policies and procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The coaching process will impact the individual education staff supporting their effective classroom practices, improve child outcomes and build child resilience. The Classroom Facilitator travels throughout Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties to perform essential job duties and to attend professional development opportunities, including out-of-town travel. This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluation of staff performance.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Is aware of, understands, adheres to and is able to articulate:
- Current Community Services resources relevant to education
- Head Start Performance Standards; and
- Other regulations/policies/procedures/administrative guidance for the provision of quality services.
- Assists program staff to implement the Pyramid Model and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to structure environments, routines, and interactions that contribute to positive social-emotional outcomes for the children and families in the program.
- Performs coaching duties and responsibilities to support classroom education staff. Works with education staff to develop professional development plans and set goals for their individual growth.
- Encourages professional growth and provides organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers.
- Encourages, supports, motivates, and works interactively with program staff to develop and implement ongoing goals.
- Conducts regular on-site visits to ascertain needs, mentor, and coach educational staff.
- Provides support for educational staff which will include, but is not limited to, in-class coaching, observing, modeling of instructional strategies, conducting classroom observations and supporting data analysis.
- Establishes and maintains confidential relationships with teachers to develop a high level of trust and respect and open communication.
- Becomes trained and proficient in effective teaching strategies related to classroom observation tools. Conducts CLASS, TPOT/TPITOS, ITERS/ECERS and informal observations and analyzes information together with child outcome data to build upon staff strengths and address areas in need of improvement through training and resources.
- Collects, reviews, and shares classroom observation data as required.
- Responsible for data entry relevant to position on as needed basis, including maintaining coaching logs.
- Promotes school readiness, family engagement, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in all aspects of the program.
- Collaborates with Education Coordinator and Classroom Support Analyst to identify classroom needs and develop and implement a classroom support plan.
- Collaborates with the Education Coordinator in the completion of education staff professional development plans.
- Submits reports, correspondence, and related information to Supervisor.
- Participates in Early Learning Program staff meetings and planning sessions, as assigned.
- Attends regularly scheduled meetings and networking opportunities with other Facilitators, Specialists,, Coordinators, Managers, and program staff as related to Program Goals.
- Conducts monthly Core Team Meetings with identified classrooms and provides appropriate documentation and follow-up.
- Engages in the active supervision of children at all times, ensuring that no child is left unattended.
- Keeps children safe by creating and maintaining a Culture of Safety that engages people in identifying safety concerns and working with others to improve strategies used in homes and in centers.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of the program’s children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable law.
- Functions as mandated reporter reporting any allegations of alleged child abuse/neglect to appropriate Child Welfare Agency.
- Respects and responds appropriately to the culture, language, values, and family structures of each family served through a trauma informed lens.
- Participates actively in opportunities for continuous professional development
- Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and use of best practices to engage in positive supportive conversations and interactions with young children.
- Knowledge and use of best practices for integrating family engagement in positive behavior interventions and supports.
- Demonstrates an approach of service delivery that is consistent with the mission of the Early Learning Program.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Google Drive, and on-line database systems.
- Knowledge and ability to conduct researched-based classroom and home-based observation.
- Adequate training and experience in adult learning and in using assessment data to drive coaching strategies aligned with program performance goals.
Required Education/Experience
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited College or University, and at least two years’ experience working with children in group settings, preferably with knowledge and expertise in promoting children’s growth and development in the developmental domains.
Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance required.

There is occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds.
