JOB TITLE: CNC Machinist/Programmer - Mill/Lathe

Job Summary:

This position generally works with machinery which cuts raw materials into functional items. This position is also responsible for interpreting project blueprints, designing programs and setting up machines to produce the desired product. This position must perform test runs and make adjustments until the resulting product meets blueprint specifications. CNC Programmers are also charged with performing machine maintenance and cleaning as necessary. Candidates that tend to be successful in this position are adaptable to a small company environment; hands-on management style; are task and results-oriented; and able to work and communicate with people at all levels from shop floor to top management. This is a detail-oriented position that requires a candidate that has considerable planning, judgment and the ability to work independently while driving continuous improvement and optimization is all day to day activities.

Essential functions and responsibilities include the following (while others may be assigned):
• Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with specified blueprints
• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
• Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly
• Commit to plant safety procedures and work with safety committee team members
• Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
• Supports AS9100 & ISO requirements for quality policy and procedures
• Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise
• Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening
• Machine parts to hold tolerances per blueprint or solid modeling specifications
• Program or draw part for machining using CAM system or manual conversational controls

Job Requirements:
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting
• Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and/or blueprints
• Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise
• Must be able to work under stressful conditions, possess and have good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
• Analyze and develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost
• Capable of standing for extended periods of time
• Must be willing and able to work weekends and provide overtime to the company as needed
• Must have strong attention to detail
• Able to program via conversational or CAM software is preferred
• Strong understanding of machine cutting tools
• 3+ years' machining experience
• Experience in a Job Shop type setting is preferred

- High School Diploma Required
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- CNC Machining Certificate preferred

- Possess strong computer and software skills
- Strong mathematical skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and possess good communication skills
- Ability to manage and handle consistent change to day to day operations and processes
