Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collection Manager to oversee our collections department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical collections and accounts receivable, with a focus on maintaining customer relationships while ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This role requires a blend of financial acumen, negotiation skills, and excellent customer service to effectively manage the revenue cycle and optimize cash flow.
Duties
- Manage the collection process for medical accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to maintain accurate financial records.
- Utilize financial software for tracking collections, account reconciliation, and reporting.
- Conduct account analysis to identify trends and develop strategies for improving collection rates.
- Communicate effectively with clients via phone, demonstrating strong phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Negotiate payment plans with clients while adhering to company policies and financial concepts.
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate medical billing practices, including CPT coding and ICD-10 compliance.
- Provide training and support to team members on medical terminology, revenue cycle management, and accounting software usage.
- Monitor telemarketing efforts related to collections and assess their effectiveness in reaching collection goals.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical collection practices and understanding of accounts receivable processes.
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, accounting principles, and revenue cycle management.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to resolve conflicts amicably.
- Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-10, debits & credits, and medical terminology.
- Competence in using financial software for account management and reporting purposes.
- Strong analytical skills for account analysis and performance tracking.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately to assess financial data.
