Mirror Group Summer Internship June 2025 – August 2025
Who We Are At Mirror Group, we believe meaningful change begins with how we show up for our clients, our communities, and one another. Guided by our core values: Be Kind. Work Hard. Give Grace. We are committed to advancing equity, driving impact through inquiry, and supporting organizations in doing their most courageous work. With deep care and rigor, we partner to illuminate truth, challenge assumptions, and co-create solutions that honor complexity and center humanity.
Project Overview Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) have historically received far less philanthropic support than Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs). A recent report by Candid and ABFE suggests, "The average Ivy League institution received 178 times more foundation funding than the average HBCU." It stands to reason that support for Tribal Colleges and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) is equally lacking. The current effort seeks to lay the groundwork for funding several MSI (HBCUs, HSIs, and Tribal Colleges) social sciences research centers and scholars based at these institutions.
Internship Project Description Mirror Group is seeking a dynamic and creative summer intern to support the development of a storytelling and communication product that helps make complex data both accessible and compelling. Over the course of the internship, the intern will work closely with our research and strategy teams to interpret key quantitative and qualitative findings from the MSI social sciences health research activity landscape study. The intern will transform this information into innovative visual artifacts, such as a short animated explainer, a digital zine, an interactive timeline, infographic series, and/or short video designed to support stakeholder engagement in philanthropy, higher education, research, and education.
The ideal candidate brings a strong design or multimedia storytelling background, a passion for equity in education and research funding, and curiosity about how narrative and data intersect. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a national conversation around equity in philanthropic funding, while sharpening their skills in data interpretation, collaborative design, and creative communications.
Timeline and CompensationThis internship will run from late June 2025 to until the end of August 2025, with flexible scheduling based on team needs and intern availability. The value for this opportunity is up to $10,000, including hardware, software, and a stipend paid in installments over the course of the internship.
To qualify for this internship:
- MSI and/or HBCU experience
- Junior or Senior (Undergraduate), Recent Graduate, or Graduate Student
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Experience in creative content design (2D, 3D, and/or Multimedia art forms)
