Growing Environmental & Civil Construction Company in Kent, WA. seeking a Controller.
AP, AR, PR, Job costing, Pay estimates, Multi State taxes, Budgets, Sales Reports, and Inventory. This position is responsible for managing an accounting team of five. An ideal candidate is a reliable, hard-working, good manager, self-motivated individual with integrity, who is steady in their work history. Advance Excel skills required, Sage 100 a plus. Bachelor’s Degree required, and CPA a plus.
Directs financial activities of the company. Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations. Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. They are in charge of the accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing departments. They supervise record keeping and set up controls to ensure efficiency and honesty. The controller also supervises the financial reports that are sent out of the company. These include annual reports to stockholders, tax returns, and reports to government agencies. The controller also explains financial policies & procedures to people who work in their organizations. The controller is responsible to plan budget. Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for the company or the subdivision. Manages accounting department, direct preparation of budgets, prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions, arrange for audits of company accounts, advise management about property and liability insurance coverage needed. May direct financial planning, procurement, and investment of funds for organization.
Job Requirements:
- Have a complete and thorough knowledge of all accounting functions and procedures.
- Must have thorough knowledge of the Construction Integrated Job Cost and General Ledger
- Sage 100 Software Accounting System. Proficient with other computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets and other accounting analysis that may be required by management.
- Maintain inventory records daily, weekly, and monthly. Manage periodic physical inventories & reconcile to accounting system.
- Accurately and timely prepare weekly field and office payrolls, making proper federal, state and 401K deposits into respective accounts. Accumulate job cost data from weekly payroll reports, materials, and subcontract billings in order to prepare weekly cost reports for each project.
- Maintain all company operating, payroll, savings and investment banking accounts including deposits, disbursements, and balancing.
- Monitor daily cash balances in operating, savings, and investment bank accounts to cover obligations and maximize interest earnings.
- Assist, review, call, email, follow-up, and track down all accounts receivables and collection of monies owed to the company.
- Prepare monthly cash projection reports. Prepare bi-weekly trial balance reports.
- In conjunction with Project Manager prepare and post all monthly invoices
- On a quarterly basis complete federal and state payroll tax returns and necessary deposits to our bank.
- Process and issue all accounts payable and subcontractor’s payments.
- Accrue, prepare, and remit appropriate sales taxes due to various parishes monthly and to the State.
- Generate monthly recaps for Workers Compensation and General Liability insurance premiums.
- Generate monthly Aged Trial Balance spreadsheet, 401K recap and Builders Risk Insurance.
- Assist and maintain employees Personnel files including all tax forms, Insurance Records, 401K records, Employment and Drug Test Records
- Assist and review with management employees Health Insurance & 401K Plan Questions
- Perform fiscal year end accounting close outs with CPA.
- Process employee year end W2’s and 1099 Forms distributing to employee/payee and appropriate Federal and State Agencies.
- To maintain all accounting files and records on each project
- To interface with Construction Manager, Project Manager and Superintendent to accurately charge & code invoices to proper Job Cost and General Ledger.
