Cybersecurity Engineer I/ISSE– 25-020 – San Diego, California
AUSGAR Technologies has an exciting, NEW, exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer I/ISSE to join our team of smart and innovative technical team members working in San Diego, California. Will serve as Cybersecurity Engineer I/ISSE to support Navy unmanned systems (e.g., Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) on critical DoD programs. This is an ideal opportunity for early-career cybersecurity professionals to gain hands-on experience working alongside a senior team on national security-focused technology.
The Cybersecurity Engineer I/ISSE will assist with the cybersecurity development, integration and sustainment of complex systems in compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF). Will assist in conducting security assessments, support security documentation and contribute to the secure design of systems throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Assist in implementing DoD RMF steps across the system lifecycle.
- Support development of cybersecurity documentation (SSP, POA&M, SAR, etc.)
- Work with engineers and developers to ensure security is embedded from the ground up.
- Help with security control assessments and vulnerability evaluations using DISA STIGs and tools like eMASS and EvaluateSTIG.
- Participate in security design discussions and help apply best practices in hardening and system protection.
- Coordinate with the ISSO/ISSM to support system accreditation efforts.
This position offers a hybrid work environment (on-site in San Diego and remote) and mentorship from senior cybersecurity engineers.
Requirements

- Must possess a valid DoD Secret clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ CE or IAT level II or higher certificate required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or similar field and 1-3 years’ related experience.
- Experience with the following technologies: eMASS, eMASSter, EvaluateSTIG and STIG auditing.
- Must have computer administration skills in Linux and/or Windows.
- Understand hardware and software engineering best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DoD or defense-related IT or cybersecurity programs.
- Familiarity with Navy unmanned systems, embedded platforms, or enclave security
- Additional certifications (e.g., CISSP Associate, CEH, CCSP, or cloud security training)

Salary Range: $75K-90K
Based on your qualifications, you will be placed in Level I-V.
An essential qualification for this position is successfully obtaining a security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.

AUSGAR’s salary range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include experience, skills, education, certifications and geographical location. Our salary range includes a base salary and excellent benefits package as part of our total compensation.
