Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving greater independence and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and within the community. Your commitment to patient care and ability to foster meaningful relationships will be vital in helping our clients thrive.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide personal care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall health status, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Implement care plans tailored to each client's needs, promoting their independence and personal goals.
- Engage clients in social activities and community integration to enhance their social skills and confidence.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Administer medication as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts when necessary for patient mobility.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support.
Qualifications
- Experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred; group home or nursing home experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Understanding of care plans and medication administration protocols.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is beneficial.
