Job Description
Abbott is seeking a visionary Director of Solutions Architecture to lead innovative technology initiatives within Abbott’s Digital Products and Services group.
As a Director of Solutions Architecture, you will provide strategic leadership and drive the advancement of technology design and innovation across Abbott’s global businesses.
This role requires you to design and implement cutting-edge technology solutions, mentor engineers, and act as a technology evangelist in architectural best practices and ways of working. You will play a pivotal role in influencing Abbott’s next generation of AI/GenAI, Microservices, API, Data, and Cloud Computing technology products and services by providing senior-level technical leadership.
What You'll Work On:
- Serve as a catalyst for innovation, focusing on AI and emerging technologies.
- Lead technology programs from ideation to production, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technological feasibility.
- Rapidly build prototypes to drive business innovation and ideate new technology capabilities.
- Collaborate with other Engineers and Architects to establish and uphold engineering best practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools.
- Set strategic goals and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple technologies and platforms.
- Work across product teams to architect, build, and design next-generation technology platforms that enhance Abbott’s competitive edge.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineering teams and closely collaborating with architects and business leaders.
- Develop and communicate multi-year product roadmaps, translating vision into tactical engineering blueprints.
- Lead tool and technology selection efforts, driving standardization and reuse of industry-leading technologies across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of Software Engineering experience.
- Proven experience in building/implementing high-performance & scalable server-side applications.
- Technical leadership skills in driving architecture, making strategic technical trade-offs, and promoting best practices.
- Advanced-level knowledge of 3 or more of the following technologies: AI/GenAI, mobile/web frameworks, multi-cloud, security and privacy, event streaming, distributed system design, microservices.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
- High standards for quality and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with an enthusiastic personality who can work well both independently and as a collaborative team leader.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience implementing large scale AI/GenAI use cases in production.
- Ability to foster innovative thinking and create a collaborative environment.
- A strong background in development and design is highly desirable.
The base pay for this position is $147,300.00 – $294,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
