MAJOR FUNCTION:
The HIM Documentation Specialist is responsible for retrieving all paper medical records from various locations; prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality checking medical records; and for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all patients' medical records. The HIM Documentation Specialist applies these skills to all types of patient records, including but not limited to: Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years medical record experience required.
- Minimum one-year clerical experience required.
- Experience in a Health Information Management department preferred.
- Experience in Cerner PowerChart and/or Cerner Kofax preferred.
- Experience with desktop document scanner preferred.
Certification/ Licensure:
- N/A
Knowledge & Skills:
- Detail oriented.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
