Back in March of 1987 Gina and Vince Marsaglia, a pair of siblings in their 20’s, bought a struggling pizza place in the sleepy coastal town of Solana Beach, just north of San Diego. From a funky storefront on the famous Pacific Coast Highway the duo ran the “Pizza Port” with a classic menu of pizza and chicken wings to which they added their own “San Diego” twist. Early on, free space in the restaurant area was used to dabble in “home” brewing. Eventually, we were brewing more than could reasonably be consumed at “home”. So, we transitioned into the brewpub business. Pizza Port Brewing Company was born when the Pizza Port location offered its first craft-brewed beers to patrons in 1992.
We have since expanded to six brewpub locations with our Imperial Beach location opening up Summer 2022. We have won multiple medals/awards from the Great American Beer Festival. Our Pizza Port locations are known for simple hand-built picnic tables and a hodge-podge décor of surf-related paraphernalia almost at odds with the sophisticated flavors of our food. Pizza Port is devoted to total customer satisfaction by providing the highest quality and the best service humanly possible while having too much fun! Job Summary – A DoughPro is responsible for making perfectly consistent, high quality dough batches in strict accordance to recipes, SOPs, and safety rules and guidelines in order to make Pizza Port Brewing Company the first choice for enjoying craft beer and amazing pizza all while having too much FUN. In order to achieve this goal, the DoughPro is expected to know how to safely operate the machines used for dough (mixer and baller), have thorough knowledge and adherence of all dough recipes and how they are prepared and served in compliance with food safety, complete all pars and clean the DoughPro areas and equipment. In addition, the DoughPro is responsible for promoting, supporting, and reinforcing a safe, clean, positive and organized facility. Additional duties as assigned.
Essential Job duties/responsibilities:
· Maintain a clean, safe and positive work environment
· Mix ingredients according to recipe and make enough dough to meet the pars needed
· Clean all dough equipment, dough room, and dough area
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Positive attitude with excellent communication skills, including professionalism in dealing with Commissary/Warehouse Manager, team members, vendors, and support staff
· Commitment to high quality standards and procedures.
· Ability to multi-task and help out where needed in a fast paced environment
· Ability to follow recipes and directions
· Attention to details is a must as recipes must be followed exactly
· Ability to work as a team or independently.
· Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
Other Considerations
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to pass food handler’s test.
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. Will occasionally have to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; and use hands to handle, or feel and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
