POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electronics Technician I performs skilled work in maintaining public address systems, language lab equipment, clock systems, and scoreboards. Work also includes installing and repairing high tech equipment such as computers, audiovisuals, televisions, copy machines, as well as the installation and troubleshooting of computer networks and wiring. An employee in this class performs a variety of skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of high tech equipment in accordance with standard practices of the electronic trade. Assignments are made orally or through written work orders. This position performs independently and is reviewed by the Master Foreman, Lead and/or Electronic Technician II.

Hourly Range: $24.17-48.28

Detailed Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Maintains a variety of high-tech electronic components such as computers, televisions, instructional equipment, audiovisual and other related equipment; installs and troubleshoots computer networks and wiring;
- Installs, repairs and maintains public address systems, language lab equipment, clock systems, and scoreboards;
- Diagnoses and locates defects in all of the above equipment and systems, uses precision test equipment in diagnosing problems; and
- Performs related work as required.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Prince George's County Limited Master Electrician License or Prince George's County Journey Electrician License.
- Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator's License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.;
- Good knowledge of electronics and electronic theory; ability to work independently or with little supervision;
- Skill in the use of hand tools, electronic testing equipment and materials of the trade; and
- Willingness to work day or evening hours as required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate supplemented by completion of an apprenticeship from an accredited school in electronic repair, installation, and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
