Personal Skills Desired:
- Build ground and flight test articles and instrumentation according to build documentation provided by lab engineering.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals.
- Use of small manual tools (i.e. screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.).
- Use of powered hand tools (i.e. drills, Dremels, etc.)
- It is not expect that the student use large power tools (i.e. bandsaws, disk sanders, etc.)
- Use of handheld test equipment like multimeters, pressure transducers, DAQs, etc...
- Scanning and filing of documentation. Carrying and picking up materials between buildings.
Environment:
- You will be working in labs that develop and produce heat shield materials as well as design and implement heat shield instrumentation within material test articles. These labs are currently supporting NASA’s missions to Mars and the Moon.
Education, Training, & Experience Required:
- The minimum educational requirement for this position is that the student is attending high school. Training will be provided on the use of small hand tools, instrumentation, and lab safety practices.
