Reporting to the Divisional Dean, the Coordinator II – Fitness and Wellness Center is responsible the leadership, vision, and management of the Fitness Center. This position is expected to oversee daily operations, monitor program budgets, facilitate campus programming, and to lead institutional and community outreach.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Establish, coordinate, and implement appropriate risk management plans for the Fitness Center
- Develop and coordinate facility operating schedules for academic year, summer, and holiday/breaks and maintenance closings
- Work cooperatively with representatives from kinesiology program, division, campus, college, and community groups to effectively schedule, staff, and supervise activities in the Fitness Center
- Serve as primary liaison with Maintenance and custodial services on repairs, cleaning, and building projects
- Establish and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for facilities and equipment
- Develop, review, revise, and enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operations and use
- Maintain fitness center inventory
- Assess facility programs and services by collecting data on program operations, participation numbers, and participant satisfaction and learning, identify trends and concerns, and implement improvements in programs and services based on the analysis of the data
- Prepares and maintains fitness center for instructional activities
- Coordinates and schedules fitness center usage
- Supports and coordinates learning activities with faculty
General Supervision and Management
- Provides leadership for all assigned staff and student workers
- Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for all staff
- Establish, monitor, and assess goals for all employees
Service Excellence
- Designs and delivers engaging fitness and wellness programs for students (in partnership with TCC-Trinity River Campus kinesiology faculty and Early College High School physical fitness faculty) and TCC employees
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Divisional Dean
- Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Physical education, Sports management, or closely related field and five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- One (1) year experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others)
- At least three (3) years’ working experience in a college, university and/or corporate setting managing the daily fitness center operations of a fitness center
- At least one (1) year’s working experience teaching or co-teaching health and wellness-related courses or workshops in a higher education and/or corporate training environment
- At least one (1) year’s working experience developing, implementing, and assessing campus-wide or corporate wellness programs
- Current nationally recognized fitness certification, such as ACE, ACSM, NSCA
- Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid
- Knowledge of fitness and wellness trends and wellness programs to provide valuable guidance to students
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, emergency procedures, and ensuring the facility meets all compliance standards
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
- Skilled in promoting fitness programs and events to engage students and increase participation
- Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of fitness instructors and staff, fostering a positive work environment
- Ability to manage schedules, events, and facility maintenance and efficient operations of the fitness center
- Ability to create and manage budgets, track expenses, and find cost-effective solutions
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
