Position: Flag Football Head Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director and Club Sports Director
Supervises: Students, Assistant Coaches (if applicable)
Primary Function: The Flag Football Head Coach is responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring team members to prepare them for competitive play. The coach will foster a positive and inclusive environment while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success. This position requires close collaboration with the Athletic Department and club sports to ensure the flag football program maintains a balance between athletic achievement and academic integrity.
Required Qualifications: Previous successful coaching experience in flag football, football, or a related sport at the high school, collegiate, or club level. A strong commitment to the personal, academic, and athletic success of students. Experience in recruiting, developing, and mentoring students. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Education: Bachelor?s degree required, or working toward a degree.
Experience: Previous playing or coaching experience in flag football or a similar sport. Experience in organizing and conducting practices, developing game strategy, and managing a team.
Essential Duties:
- Work under the supervision of the athletic director and club sports director and in cooperation with club elected officers to promote the team by communicating with administration and other school representatives.
- Coaching: Plan and lead practices with a focus on skill development, strategy, and conditioning. Prepare the team for competition, including game-day coaching, strategy implementation, and adjustments.
- Team Supervision: Supervise players during practices, games, and other team activities, ensuring adherence to team rules and college policies.
- Recruitment: Actively recruit prospective students aligned with the values and mission of Saint Vincent College. Collaborate with the club sports director and assist in the admissions process for recruited students.
- Team Building: Foster a positive team environment emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and mutual respect. Provide mentorship and personal development support to team members both on and off the field.
- Fundraising and Budget Management: Coordinate with the Athletic Department, alumni relations, and club officers on fundraising initiatives to support the program. Assist in managing the team budget and ensuring financial resources are used effectively.
- Player Development: Assist in the personal and athletic development of players, providing mentorship and support as they grow.
- Community Engagement: Promote the flag football program within the college and local community. Encourage players to participate in campus events, service projects, and other community activities.
- Game Day Management: Oversee game-day logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and coordination with officials and opposing teams.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and other activities. Adhere to all college, league, and conference policies, ensuring the program remains in compliance.
