Overview
The Front Desk and Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing all front desk operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, and leading the front desk team to maintain the highest levels of efficiency, professionalism, and hospitality. They are also responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, presentation, and overall upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This role helps ensure that the housekeeping team delivers a consistently high standard of cleanliness and service, aligned with the property’s quality and hospitality standards. This role also serves as a key liaison between guests, staff, and management to ensure smooth day-to-day hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services & Experience
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
- Address guest concerns, complaints, and special requests with prompt attention and care.
- Ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service by all front desk team members.
Staff Leadership & Scheduling
- Assist the general manager with recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling of front desk & housekeeping team members.
- Schedule shifts to maintain appropriate coverage for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Administrative & Operational Duties
- Manage the check-in and check-out process, reservations, and room assignments.
- Monitor and reconcile daily transactions, reports, and shift activity.
- Ensure front desk procedures comply with company policies, security standards, and hospitality regulations.
- Oversee billing, cash handling, and credit card procedures.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with housekeeping and food and beverage staff to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Serve as a point of contact for VIPs, groups, or special events, as needed.
- Support the General Manager in daily operations and take on leadership responsibilities in their absence.
Technology & System Oversight
- Ensure staff proficiency with reservation systems, including Resnexus and Lightspeed, as well as other front office tools.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues or escalate as necessary.
Daily Operations
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards are met.
- Assist the general manager in ensuring housekeeping staff implements a timely turnaround of rooms, particularly during check-in/check-out periods.Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities; place orders as needed.
- Coordinate with the general manager and team members to prioritize room assignments and manage special requests or VIP setups.
Quality Control & Guest Satisfaction
- Address guest complaints or concerns regarding housekeeping services promptly and professionally.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols throughout the property.
- Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and OSHA standards.
Administrative Duties
- Assist the GM with tracking labor hours and reviewing time card entries before payroll.
- Maintain housekeeping logs, inspection checklists, lost & found items, and maintenance reports.
- Prepare and manage housekeeping budgets in coordination with leadership.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with the General Manager to report and follow up on room repairs or facility issues.
- Communicate with the front desk and management to anticipate high-occupancy days, group arrivals, or unique housekeeping needs.
- Support other departments as needed to maintain smooth overall operations.
