Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

College of DuPage seeks a full-time, tenure track faculty member to teach Fire Science courses starting in August 2025. The A.A.S. in Fire Science has been awarded national recognition through the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education Program (FESHE) which recognizes College of DuPage's adoption of standardized core courses and commitment to fire and EMS professional development.

Additional duties include advising students, curriculum development and updates for all courses to maintain compliance with the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), various College of DuPage committee work, attend open houses and career fairs. Teaching within the discipline may include using various modalities such as traditional, hybrid, and online.

We are actively seeking innovative, collaborative colleagues who regularly examine their pedagogy and practices in order to foster more equitable, accessible, and inclusive student learning.

Faculty duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising students, professional inquiry, committee work and engaging with instructional technology.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Faculty positions may not be fully remote.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or related field required
Certification as a paramedic in the state of Illinois required

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience as fire fighter/paramedic required
At least 3 years teaching experience in paramedic/EMT/Fire Science courses required
