SUMMARY:
A group leader's duties involve guiding, motivating, and coordinating a team to achieve shared objectives. They are responsible for setting the tone for the group, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective communication and task delegation. A group leader also plays a crucial role in resolving conflicts, boosting morale, and creating a positive and inclusive work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor Safety:
· Ensure that only certified operators will operate the crane and forklift.
· Ensure Crane Operators and Forklift Drivers use the equipment safely without shortcuts.
· Report on any issues that will put safety at risk.
· Monitor the Setupper and the Team Leader to ensure they follow safety rules and procedures.
· Make sure team members do not have their cell phones on the production floor.
· Ensure team members stay focused and avoid distractions during working hours.
Monitor 4s Activities:
· Ensure locations on the production floor are taped off, designating locations for the carts, pallets, empty totes, benches, and other items, and ensure signs are placed at the assigned locations.
· Organize the workbenches and standardize all of them to be the same.
· Ensure all totes with parts have the correct Kanbans before placing them in rack locations.
· Monitor the condition of tools and ensure they go back to their designated place.
· Ensure the coil area is free of clutter, and the location is well organized.
· Ensure general housekeeping is maintained per 4s standards.
Monitor Productivity:
· Ensure that all machines are running at the proper SPM. If not, investigate and report it for correction.
· Ensure all machines are achieving the proper GSPH. If not, investigate, coach, and train the Setupper on how to achieve it.
· Supervise the changeover times and ensure 2 Setuppers are assisting each other as needed.
· Achieve the PPMH by assigning 1 Setupper to 2 press machines whenever possible.
· Supervise only the Team Leader's setup of the Kanban post and its priorities.
· Monitor and control product quality.
Monitor Product Quality:
· Ensure all Setuppers and Team Leaders report any die issues or mis-tamps.
· Ensure that all Setuppers and Team Leaders follow the procedures for the placement of red totes.
· Ensure the Setupper and Team Leader follow the inspection procedures for the first and last pieces, along with properly completing the paperwork.
· Ensure the Setupper and Team Leader are following the Quality Board and are properly inspecting the required number of parts per tote.
· Support the Quality department with quality investigations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent, or 1 year of experience in the Manufacturing Field (Press or Welding Technology)
· 2-3 years of experience in secondary machining operations and demonstrated ability in mathematics, statistical analysis, precision measurement, industrial practices, computer literacy, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The Group Leader must be bilingual and able to read documents such as Safety Rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions, and procedure manuals. They must also be able to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
