We are looking for a baking and pastry professional to lead our team of artisan bakers. As a Head Baker/ pastry chef at Somedays Bakery, you will produce artisan laminated dough products. This role will report directly to ownership and will run the general day to day operations of the back of house.
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about laminated dough and enjoy leading a hardworking and passionate team of bakers. You should be passionate about your craft and determined to produce the highest quality products while adhering to Somedays’ quality and recipes. The goal is to offer the best customer experience possible so that we can expand and elevate the Somedays’ brand until it is synonymous with the best Croissants in the country. This position will be part of the opening team for our new Park Ave location in Manhattan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dough lamination according to Somedays’ standards
- Ingredient inventory and ordering
- Team scheduling
- Train, mentor, and lead our bakery team, fostering a positive work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
- Interact with customers, answer inquiries about our offerings, and provide recommendations, creating a welcoming and informative bakery experience.
- Establish and uphold rigorous quality control measures to ensure that every product meets Somedays’ standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
- Daily baking of all products according to the par
- Finishing of all baked product in a timely manner for service
- Observe and maintain the quality of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, baking time accordingly
- Scaling of ingredients, mixing, and prep work
- Checking the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met
- Properly label and store ingredients
- Maintain a clean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of professional baking experience preferred. Experience with laminated dough required
- 2 years of management experience in the baking industry
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Attention to detail and a relentless commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Experience with mixing, bench work, proofing, and baking laminated dough
- Able to lift 50+lbs without restrictions
- The ability to stand and/or bend for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
- Highly honed sense of urgency
- Excellent time management skills
- Must be available to work early mornings, weekends and some holidays
- Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards and adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
