Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our team. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that our organization adheres to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role is vital in maintaining compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, FDA regulations, and other relevant standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of compliance management, coding practices, and quality assurance processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to Medicare, HIPAA, FDA regulations, and JCAHO standards.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related issues, including coding practices (ICD-9 and ICD-10).
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulations that may impact the organization’s compliance status.
- Prepare reports on compliance activities and present findings to senior management.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during audits or investigations.
- Lead and document regular status meetings to ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations.
- Perform ongoing audits of patient records, caregiver documentation, and visit logs to identify and correct inconsistencies.
- Monitor for missed visits, notify relevant stakeholders promptly, and implement corrective action plans
- Generate and analyze monthly reports on service authorizations, identifying exceptions and resolving discrepancies
- Coordinate and deliver mandatory training for caregivers, including onboarding sessions for new hires
- Track and manage patient incidents and complaints, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution in line with policy
- Conduct quarterly reviews for each patient case to assess quality of care, caregiver performance, and ongoing needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in compliance management within the healthcare sector.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA regulations, FDA regulations, JCAHO standards
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC) is preferred but not required.
