Job Purpose

  • To oversee the strategic development and implementation of best-practice HR Business Partnering and efficient employee services to the Commerce Function, and to deepen stakeholder trust and implement HR processes and solutions to meet the needs of the Commerce Function
  • To support the Human Resource Director to achieve the HR strategic objectives as they relate to the Commerce Function.
  • Provide professional advice and deliver effective HR policies, practices and services that ensure that all employees in the Commerce Function embrace the Company’s culture and are appropriately remunerated, trained, developed and informed to achieve the short-, medium- and long-term objectives of the Company.

Key Responsibilities

Embed Strategic HR Business Partnering, ensuring alignment to HR strategy and divisional Business needs

  • Oversee the implementation of HR Business Partnering strategy to support Heineken Ethiopia Employee Value Proposition consistently and embed the company’s reputation as an employer of choice
  • Lead the HR Business Partnering for commerce to provide HR Business Partnering support for heads of the Sales Function and all Sales employees on the employment life cycle and deliver effective HR services
  • Department, awareness of all related job requirements and accountabilities, and leverage human resources career development programs for staff career development

Climate

  • Anticipate employee needs and deliver HR initiatives that will meet their expectations and drive commitment.
  • Support cultural changes following the outcome of the periodic climate survey by encouraging line managers to take greater responsibility for their staff. Identify key barriers or enablers to a healthy team/functional culture and leverage them to enhance performance and engagement.
  • Develop strategies and programs to ensure the implementation of the Climate Survey

Change Management

  • Anticipate employee needs and deliver HR initiatives that will meet their expectations and drive commitment.
  • Analyse trends and HR metrics and develop solutions, programs, and policies.

Performance Management & Career Planning

  • Ensure all employees in the Commerce Function set and agree on Annual Performance objectives, Personal Development Plan (PDP),
  • Oversee and ensure End of the Year Performance Review and Calibration are done for all employees
  • Ensure collation of Annual Performance ratings for all employees and submission to the Compensation and Benefits Manager for the annual merit award
  • Arrange for the exit of poor performers from the Company on conclusion of the Annual Performance appraisal exercise
  • Support building a working environment that is inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging by driving DEI priorities within the function - Gold-Level Women in Commerce

Talent Acquisition and Management

  • Enforce implementation of talent management and succession planning activities in the Function
  • Support the recruitment process: sourcing, onboarding, recruitment exercise, and adherence to Heineken Ethiopia recruitment philosophy.
  • Drive job evaluations as the need arises.
  • Member of the succession planning committee and participates in all meetings.
  • Ensure that the resource requirements/manning levels for the Function are optimal to support the delivery of strategic objectives in the short, medium and long terms
  • Ensure the Women in Sales agenda is delivered as per the glidepath and reported to HRD
  • Responsible for Talent acceleration and readiness level for the Commerce team; coordinate mentoring and coaching Talents within the function

Compensation and Benefits

  • Responsible, with the Human Resource Director and Head of Compensation and Benefits, for reviewing the reward system for Commerce, such that it will encourage excellent performance and increase productivity.
  • Responsible, with the HR Business Partners, for staff well-being, actively seeking ways of supporting the management of workplace stress.

Learning and Development

  • Provide support to ensure PDP completion on MyHR
  • Provide support to ensure Training plan completion for Digital Learnings. Support in identifying training needs for the Commerce Functions and individual executive coaching needs
  • Lead and drive Sales Talent acceleration and development program

Employee Relations & Experience

  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation. Ensure all HR Policies and procedures are reviewed as needed for the Commerce Function and continue to reflect up-to-date best practice.
  • Work closely with Management and employees in the Function to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Ensure that international employees coming in and out of the Commerce Function are assisted with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation to the Commerce function and deploy programs to achieve this.
  • Provide support for the consistent and proper management of staff disciplinary processes and ensure the implementation of staff disciplinary recommendations.
  • Facilitate leave adherence and completion to support work-life balance.
  • Oversee the implementation of strategic health initiatives and a robust medical and wellness program for employees in the Commerce function across the country to sustain and improve employee productivity, overall business growth, and profitability.

HR Expertise and Support to the Function

  • Develop and implement HR Business Partnering plans that create value and are in line with HR and overall business strategic priorities. Ensure high-quality HR services are provided consistently, on time, and effectively to support the functions in accordance with agreed service levels. Review value-adding opportunities within line departments and contribute to the development of HR Business Partnering strategies. Demonstrate a deep understanding of Heineken Ethiopia business strategies and the needs of the client department.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a degree in Management, Economics, Business Administration, HR Management, or other related business fields

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as an HRBP
  • Good business acumen and adaptable to change.
  • High integrity and ability to coach
  • Strategic and tactical delivery skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively in English
  • Analytical and have excellent attention to detail are a must
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and independently.
  • Strong team player
  • Interested in data insights and decision-making
  • Experience working in an international organization will be an added advantage.
