InterBel is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part-Time HR Generalist (24 - 32 hours per week) to support and lead key human resources initiatives as we grow and evolve. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about people, culture, and organizational development. This role will serve as a key contributor in supporting InterBel’s mission to provide exceptional telecommunications service across northwest Montana by overseeing various human resource initiatives, ensuring labor compliance, and supporting employee development and engagement.
Essential Job Functions
- Act as the primary Human Resources Generalist for the Cooperative, with a primary focus on administering employee benefits and coordinating with payroll regarding updates to benefits, compensation, and personnel changes.
- Lead recruitment and retention strategies that align with InterBel’s core cultural values, while also developing training and professional development plans for both individuals and departments.
- Foster and continuously improve a workplace culture that prioritizes employees over profitability, including the proactive maintenance and revision of job descriptions to reflect evolving organizational needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in alignment with Cooperative goals, while adapting to a dynamic regulatory landscape and supporting the Cooperative’s ongoing growth.
- Ensure all employee records and HR documentation are accurate, complete, and securely maintained in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Serve as a liaison for matters related to union contracts, including participation in contract negotiations and resolution of related concerns.
- Regularly review, update, and create organizational policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational needs and regulatory requirements
- Administer and optimize Microsoft SharePoint to enhance internal communications and maintain collaborative records and documents.
- Manage special projects aligned with the Cooperative’s strategic goals, including participation in annual strategic planning and supporting the pursuit of grant funding opportunities.
- Perform other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the CEO or CFO to support the long-term success of the Cooperative.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Fundamental knowledge of telecommunications regulatory environment and funding mechanisms.
- Knowledge of human resources functions including benefit administration, recruiting, retention, training, salary analytics, documentation, and disciplinary guidance.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of management principles, practices, and initiatives.
- Knowledge of company products and services.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices or quick ability to learn.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field desired. Experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience; industry specific experience a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of HR laws and regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification preferred, or the ability to attain within 12 months of hire.
Work Schedule
Work schedule is flexible but will generally be between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Additional time may be required during peak seasons of the Cooperative. Alternative work schedule may be accommodated at the discretion of management and some remote work is possible.

Working Environment
The physical demand of this position is an ability to sit for long periods of time, frequently processing data on personal computer or mobile device. Reasonable accommodations are available and some travel for training may be required.
