Under supervision of the Director of Employee Relations & HRIS or designee, this position coordinates the implementation of services in areas such as recruiting, employment, employee relations, training and development, and compensation in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; act as an HR point-of-contact for company employees. Escalating managerial issues/situations to the Corporate HR Business Manager.
- Assists with training of HR Assistants and Technicians.
- Supports drug and alcohol programs by managing, coordinating, and administering proper drug screens according to policy.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
- Research and produce professional-level human resource reports in some or all the following areas: employee relations, affirmative action, drug and alcohol, and personnel.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of departments and services performed.
- Perform FEHB payroll deductions, PTO, and ELA audits. Ensuring all necessary paperwork and processes have been completed.
- Participate in human resource meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, and new hire orientation, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
- Administer the ASRC Service Award program.
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of the employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
- Assist with department projects supporting key initiatives.
- Provide assistance with Oracle HRMS and relevant support processes, as needed.
- Travel to Anchorage, remote locations, and North Slope Villages may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- At least three (3) years of HR or related experience, with increasing responsibility.
- Experience working with highly confidential materials.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products (including Excel), DocuSign, Adobe, Adobe Professional, Canva and similar programs and willingness to become proficient in same.
- Experience in graphic design or communications preferred.
- Ability to complete UA Collector training within 30 days of hire.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as company policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
