Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Immigration and International Family Law Attorney to join our firm. The ideal candidate will provide expert legal counsel and representation to clients navigating complex immigration issues and international family law matters. This role requires a deep understanding of U.S. immigration laws, international treaties, cross-border family disputes, and humanitarian protections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in immigration cases including family-based petitions, asylum claims, deportation defense, and naturalization processes.
- Handle international family law matters such as child custody disputes, international child abduction cases (Hague Convention cases), adoption, divorce, and enforcement of foreign judgments.
- Advise clients on cross-border legal issues involving immigration status, custody arrangements, visitation rights, and relocation.
- Prepare and file petitions, motions, and appeals before U.S. immigration agencies and courts.
- Collaborate with foreign counsel and international organizations on cases involving foreign jurisdictions.
- Stay current with changes in immigration and international family law, treaties, and policies.
- Provide culturally sensitive client counseling and support throughout legal proceedings.
- Work with government agencies, consulates, and non-profits to facilitate client needs.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice in relevant jurisdictions.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. immigration law and international family law.
- Experience with the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and related international treaties.
- Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving multiple jurisdictions and sensitive family dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to serving diverse and vulnerable client populations.
Job Types: Part-time, Internship
Pay: $69,325.13 - $83,488.33 per year
Expected hours: 5 per week
