Job Description
Are you skilled at analyzing claims, following processes, and corresponding with employers?
We’re looking for an Unemployment Insurance Exceptions Analyst. Serving on the UI Operations team, which is responsible for administrating South Carolina’s unemployment insurance claims processes, this role provides ongoing technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders associated with specialized aspects of the Unemployment Insurance claims process. An ideal candidate will be customer-service oriented and adaptable with initiative.
Key Responsibilities- Resolve specialized work items initiated through the UI claims process associated with Ex-Service Members (UCX), Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE), Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA), Employer Filed Claims (EFC), Combined Wage Claims (CWC), and Intra and Interstate Claims.
- Send appropriate correspondence to employers regarding the findings of the filed Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) protest.
- Audit employer accounts to ensure they were provided opportunities to respond to FUTA and Benefit Charges initiated through the claim process.
- Utilize the UI Benefits System to properly enter ongoing TRADE related payments to eligible program participants.
- Issue determinations for eligibility.
- Ensure participants fulfill program requirements and maintain eligibility while monitoring and maintaining appropriate files.
- Exercise judgment and discretion.
- Effectively communicate clearly in written and oral form.
- Interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Education and Experience
A high school diploma and at least four (4) years of experience in claims processing, adjudication, auditing, or similar activities.
demonstrable administrative, supervisory, or management experience. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to Unemployment Insurance.
Additional RequirementsPosition may require employee to work evenings and weekends. Other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in claims processing, adjudication, auditing, or similar activities.
