Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of dog handling and training. This role involves providing high-quality care for pets in our kennel, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kennel area by regularly cleaning and sanitizing kennels, play areas, and equipment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to management.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary visits as needed.
- Engage with pet owners to provide excellent customer service and communicate any specific needs or concerns regarding their pets.
- Support dog training initiatives by reinforcing positive behaviors and following established training protocols.
- Handle heavy lifting when moving supplies or assisting with larger animals.
- Ensure all animals are safely secured in their kennels during cleaning or when not under supervision.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal care or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Skills in dog handling, animal restraint, and pet grooming are highly desirable.
- A background in customer service is beneficial for interacting with pet owners effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed for the role.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential for success in this position.
