Job description:
A Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for investigating, evaluating liability, and recovering dollars from responsible parties on subrogation claims through negotiations and legal proceedings. The Legal Administrative Assistant must work with attorneys, other carriers, adjustors, responsible parties and more to both accelerate and maximize settlement amounts and provided needed information. This position requires a combination of both oral and written communication skills, the ability to proficiently review claims and case documentation with sound decision making, have excellent organization and time management skills while maintaining a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities:
- Perform the initial review of assigned claim files, at a detailed and advanced level.
- Conduct additional investigation to compile documentation and claim details.
- Understand and apply state laws that relate to each file.
- Enter data into account management system.
- Maintain daily tasks to move claims and cases towards resolution.
- Interact professionally on incoming and outgoing calls and correspondence with involved parties.
- Prepare required correspondence, legal pleadings, and other related documents.
- Negotiate settlement amounts per guidelines.
- Meet department and client standards for customer service, claim handling and reporting.
- Maintain account confidentiality and private personal information.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a legal office a plus; paralegal or legal assistant and/or experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required.
- Basic computer proficiency required (typing 50WPM, ability to navigate various websites, etc.).
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues, problems, or opportunities.
- Ability to work independently to meet objectives.
- Ability to perform well in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of people both internally and externally in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Work in compliance with Federal and State Collection Laws
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) a plus.

This is a full-time position with benefits available after an introductory period. Wages will be based upon experience and may range from $18 to $21 per hour.
Position hours 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday, with 2 15-minute paid breaks, and an hour lunch. No remote work or relocation available.
