Overview:
The Manager, Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for ensuring the successful performance of plant operations through planning and organizing the maintenance and engineering functions related to plant facilities and production equipment for an automotive glass fabrication facility in Crestline, OH. The incumbent provides leadership and direction to the Maintenace & Engineering department employees and coordinates the scheduling of repairs/upgrades, preventative maintenance activities and new equipment installation to meet operational/production needs. This role involves overseeing daily maintenance activities, planning downtimes events, and providing guidance on prioritization for critical repairs and manning issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize maintenance plant maintenance objectives through use of training, coaching, problem solving, lean principles, and preventative maintenance programs to optimize process and line efficiency.
- Direct and manage troubleshooting and repair of production equipment (i.e. furnaces, cutting lines, silkscreen rooms), related electronic circuitry, facilities, PLCs, controllers and robotics to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs, develop and supervise the maintenance budget and schedule department personnel to service production needs.
- Work with the plant management team to develop, justify, propose and execute capital projects.
- Support maintenance budget development and control spending to meet budget requirements.
- Make personnel decisions including hiring, discipline, performance appraisals, resolve employee complaints and problems and review training needs and development plans. Conduct training as needed to continuously improve the safety and quality performance of the maintenance staff.
- Satisfy all appropriate EH&S requirements (state, federal, & Vitro) including LOTO (lockout/tag-out) procedures, electrical safety, hot work procedures, PIT maintenance, robot safety, machine guarding, etc. to comply with applicable safety rules and requirements; review machinery needs and recommend modifications, and design as well as implement changes and administrative controls.
- Define parameters for hiring outside contractors and monitor their performance to ensure contractor employees comply with Vitro safe work practices and that they inform Vitro employees of hazards encountered with contract work performed.
- Oversee plant utilities and substations.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing capacity.
- Proven leadership and administrative ability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage long-term projects and process improvements.
Working Conditions:
