Job Summary
**FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS AUGUST 5TH
The Maintenance Worker maintains the County's buildings, parks and campground to provide the public with safe and well-maintained facilities and grounds. The Maintenance Worker also performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC repairs in and around the Rice County facilities. The Maintenance Worker properly maintains equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Examples of Duties
- Perform various tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of buildings.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance of building components and systems.
- Perform snow removal by manual and mechanical means.
- Maintain lawn and landscaped areas, and outdoor facilities by manual and mechanical means.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on equipment.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Perform carpentry work including the construction, installation, remodeling and repairing of cabinets, partitions, walls, windows, doors, roofs, foundations, and other carpentry work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The job requires a high school diploma and three years of experience with park and facilities maintenance, or equivalent. One year of experience and related post-secondary education may be substituted for three years of experience.. Must pass criminal background check which includes fingerprinting. Must possess a valid Driver’s License upon hire.

Required Licenses: Must possess at hire or obtain a MN Special Boilers license within 90 days of employment. A MN 2nd Class C Boilers license must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with computerized facilities management systems is desirable.
Supplemental Information
UNION: GU Unit – Grade 7
HOURS: Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week. Normal working hours 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
