Support aerospace CNC operations through hands-on projects focused on tooling, inventory management, fixture processes, and 5S implementation. This internship provides excellent exposure to lean manufacturing principles and practical experience in precision manufacturing environments
Manage Project Focused On:
Tooling Inventory Management
- Conduct comprehensive audit of existing cutting tools and tooling inventory
- Organize tooling storage areas for improved accessibility and efficiency
- Work with tooling supplier to establish standardized tooling inventory database with specifications and usage data
- Develop improved setup and tear down processes
- Create 5S audit checklists and standardized procedures
Warehouse Organization & Optimization
- Implement improved storage systems and inventory organization
- Create visual identification systems for parts, materials, and supplies
- Develop standard operating procedures for warehouse operations
- Establish receiving, storage, and picking protocols
- Support implementation of inventory management improvements
Fixture Management
- Organize fixture storage
- Develop or improve fixture check-in/check-out process
- Document fixture setup procedures and work instructions
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Create visual work instructions and standard operating procedures with machinists
- Develop training materials for 5S and organizational improvements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing areas
- Assist with compliance documentation for ISO9001/AS9100 standards
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Must be a US Citizen
- Currently enrolled in Engineering program (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
- Strong academic performance (3.0 GPA or higher preferred)
Personal skills/attributes
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Physical ability to work in manufacturing environment
- Interest in hands-on problem solving and process improvement
