Mechanical Estimator – Plumbing, HVAC & Piping
Location: Tucson, AZ
Cardinal Group is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in plumbing, HVAC, and piping systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a sharp eye for detail, cost analysis, and scope interpretation. You’ll play a key role in driving accurate project pricing and supporting our preconstruction efforts across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and scopes to develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems.
- Utilize estimating software and Excel-based tools to generate takeoffs and project cost breakdowns.
- Apply industry knowledge of labor, material, and installation rates for plumbing, piping, and HVAC components.
- Stay current with applicable codes, regulations, and construction practices.
- Generate conceptual and detailed budgets based on schematic or construction documents.
- Coordinate with internal teams to support bid strategies and project planning.
- Prepare formal bid proposals and ensure submission deadlines are met.
- Track bid progress, follow up on awarded projects, and support contract handoffs.
- Organize project documentation and maintain estimate tracking systems.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5–8 years of mechanical estimating experience in plumbing, piping, or HVAC construction.
- Proficient with estimating software (QuickPen, TSI, or similar tools preferred).
- Solid command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, industry standards (SMACNA, MCAA), and current cost trends.
- Ability to produce both conceptual and detailed estimates.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $64,248.42 - $77,374.44 per year
