We are currently seeking a part-time Media Researcher to join our remote team. In this role, you will monitor, analyze, and curate traditional, social, and broadcast media coverage to support the strategic communications goals of our clients. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented early riser with excellent research and writing skills, who thrives in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor a variety of media sources—print, online, broadcast, and social—to identify relevant coverage aligned with client priorities.
- Analyze news stories and trends to determine significance and relevance for executive briefings.
- Curate and format news content into organized, client-ready products using cloud-based content management systems.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and timeliness in every delivery.
Work Environment & Schedule
- 100% Remote: Work from anywhere in the U.S. with a stable internet connection. Watershed has operated remotely for over two decades.
- Early Morning Hours Required: Start between 5:00–6:00 a.m. Eastern Time, with most deadlines falling between 6:30–7:30 a.m. ET, depending on client assignments.
- Flexible Hours: Expect between 10 to 25 hours per week, with the possibility of increased hours based on client needs and your availability.
Qualifications
- Experience or education in journalism, public relations, public affairs, government, marketing, or a related communications field.
- Strong research and analytical skills; attention to nuance in media framing and narrative trends.
- Experience with traditional and non-traditional news content platforms and cloud-based tools.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize information quickly and write with clarity, accuracy, and excellent grammar.
- Comfortable working independently and meeting daily, time-sensitive deadlines.
