Summary
We are a high-volume, well-established podiatry clinic in Rancho Cucamonga, California, dedicated to delivering excellent foot and ankle care. We are currently hiring a Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Podiatric Medical Assistant (PMA) to support both front and back office operations. The ideal candidate is either a recent graduate of a California-approved medical assisting program or has equivalent qualifications and is fluent in Spanish to assist with patient-provider communication.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of a California-approved Medical Assistant training program
- Fluent in Spanish and English (verbal and written)
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- High academic achievement or proven clinical excellence from training program
- Able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in podiatry, orthopedics, or family practice a plus
- Experience with EHR, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and DME management
- Familiarity with California Medical Board scope-of-practice regulations for medical assistants
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical (Back Office)
- Take and document vital signs and detailed podiatric subjectives, including pain location, duration, footwear impact, trauma history, and gait analysis
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with minor procedures (e.g., wound care, nail avulsions, matrixectomies) under physician supervision
- Maintain clean, sterile clinical environments and instruments in compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols
- Educate patients on diabetic foot care, post-op instructions, and treatment compliance
- Assist with injections, DME fittings, and imaging as permitted under California MA regulations
- Prepare prescriptions for provider review and signature (no independent prescribing)
Administrative (Front Office)
- Greet and check-in/check-out patients professionally and efficiently
- Translate between Spanish-speaking patients and non-Spanish-speaking staff/providers
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations for CPT codes, procedures, and DME
- Schedule follow-ups and recalls; document accurately in the EHR
- Enter billing codes (CPT and ICD-10) and support clinical documentation accuracy
- Dispense and log durable medical equipment (orthotics, braces, boots) per clinic policy
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work involves prolonged standing and walking
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 lbs
- Regular use of PPE and exposure to disinfectants and medical instruments
- Fast-paced clinic environment with direct patient interaction
