Psychological Pathways has been providing outpatient Psychological, and Psychotherapeutic services through an integrated insurance-based model to Central and Northern Arizona for over 40 years. We are currently looking for a full-time experienced and reliable Medical Revenue (Accounts Receivable) Specialist to join our Phoenix Billing Team.
The person filling the position will perform all aspects of medical office revenue recognition and recovery. The person must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, and have excellent follow-up skills. The successful individual will possess at least 2+ years medical and/or behavioral billing experience, especially in the area of account and payment reconciliation.
Accounts Receivable Specialist Duties Include:
- Processing of electronic and paper remits, including the posting of patient portions, denials, adjustments, contractual allowance and recoupments.
- Reconciles daily reporting from multiple bank accounts to receivable accounts.
- Resolves unposted line items from electronic remittance advices (ERA’s).
- Accurately posts patient and insurance payor payments to patient accounts timely, calculates and enters contractual adjustments, and patient discounts.
- Identifies and reports issues, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement to management.
- Stay current with all insurance updates
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years medical and/or behavioral billing experience, especially in the area of account and payment reconciliation.
- 2+ years’ experience with medical terminology and using an electronic medical record and billing system.
- Extensive knowledge with insurance denials and the appeals process.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HCPC’s, CPT, and diagnosis coding.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite, especially excel functions and tools.
- Experience interacting with external payers and insurance carriers.
- Ability to work independently and accurately with high volumes of data and minimal supervision and be able to interface with difficult patients and/or third party insurance companies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills.
